1 jan 1979 ano - Fairlight CMI
Descrição:
The Fairlight CMI was the first influential sampling, polyphonic synthesizer. It was capable of recording and playing back audio samples as well as changing properties like the pitch of the samples. The impact of sampling would be primarily seen in music genres like hip hop and progressive rock. Peter Gabriel had one of the most pronounced impacts on progressive rock using the Fairlight CMI to save multiple percussive ideas from different cultures that interested him and use them in songwriting without needing a drummer skilled enough to play the idea from each culture. This multicultural musicality enabled progressive rock to explore new avenues of musical nuance that were previously closed off.
