1 jan 1923 ano - First successful heart valve surgery (1923) The first sucessful heart valve surgery was performed by Eliott Cutler. It was performed on a 12-year old girl with rheumatic mitral stenosis. Though it was acclaimed as a milestone of medical prowess, the surgery's mortality rate was too high to be effective.
