The United Nations is an international government organization with the purpose of maintaining global order. It was founded after World War II, aiming to prevent a similar conflict in the future. Canada signed the UN Charter with 50 others in 1945. Since then, we have made huge contributions to peacekeeping and human rights objectives, continuing to earn ourselves a reputation as peacekeepers.
