The U.S sent a spacecraft, Apollo 11, to the moon. This spacecraft marked the first moon landing in history. To make things even better, astronaut, Neil Armstrong, took the first steps on the moon. This put the U.S ahead in the Space Race and as Neil Armstrong said" That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind."
