1 jan 1853 ano - Enfield Rifle Cartridges
Descrição:
Enfield rifle cartridges were the catalyst of rebellion for the Sepoys (Indian infantrymen in the Mughal or East India Company military) in the East India Company's private army. Rumors spread that the cartridge used for the rifle was pre-greased with pig and cow fat- soldiers were required to bite the end of the cartridge off, and to anyone within the Hindu religion, touching one's mouth to these greases would be highly offensive.
