Descrição:

1) Ike admin spent $26 billion, built 40,000 miles of federal highways, largest public works expenditure in US history.
2) Federal officials claimed it would make evacuation quicker in event of nuclear war and linked the country together. Used these as justification to congress to help passage of the Act.
3) Highway helped make US more dependent on oil.
4) Inspired by the Autobahn
5) Transport of goods dominated by trains, now trucks dominate trade.
