December 1941- America had no clue what was coming and the American government thought the Japanese were heading toward the Philippines. The Japanese surprised attacked a Hawaiian island called pearl harbor where a naval base was held. Japanese fighter jets invaded the island and automatically started dropping bombs, severely hurting our naval base, soldiers and civilians. This incident is what forced America to go to war. This was important to WW2 because if it wasn't for this attack the US could have stayed neutral.
