The Germans launched an airforce raid, starting with bombing of Belgrade. Going straight into Yugoslavia. Germany killed 17,000 civilians, the largest number of civilian casualties in one day. They emptied out towns and villages by slaughtering people. Next the Germans bombed a port city in Greece Piraeus. On April 27th Germany enters the Greek capital and with a majority of their country occupied by Germans, it did not take long for the resistance to give in. This was important in WW2 because this showed the influence Germany had on surrounding countries. The nazi party was, influencing other governments as well, even if not fully controlled by Germany.
