In retrospect, this student strike accomplished many goals in regards to representation for minority groups. The field of ethnic studies in higher education was granted as a result of the strike. It set precedent for how to organize, educate, and advocate within identity groups. Many minority groups came together to demand visibility and opportunities for non-white students and staff. This is a great example of how students kept their community and college accountable. This is an event that should be mentioned more in history and shared as an example for students.
