Hitler wanted Czechoslovakia as it was in close proximity to Germany, was fully independent and a resource-rich region which was suitable for Hitler's Lebensraum. Under the influence of a Nazi Party leader, the German population in Sudetenland was willing to be part of Germany and Hitler threatened to wage war unless Sudetenland was given to him. This led to the signing of the Munich Agreement (29 Sep 1938) which gave Hitler Sudetenland which emboldened him to invade Czechoslovakia.
