Eighteen years after the Glorious Revolution, the Kingdom of England was in a position to begin a fresh attempt at merging with the Kingdom of Scotland. This became successful when both Parliaments came to various legal agreements and the Treaty of Union took effect on 1st May 1707, establishing for the first time, the Kingdom of Great Britain.
