1 jan 995 ano - King Olaf Tryggvason imposed Christianity on Norway
Descrição:
Although a few earlier kings had adopted Christianity, it wasn't until the year 995 CE, when Olaf Tryggvason ascended to the throne after he led a successful revolt against the pagan Hakkon, that Christianity was imposed on Norway. By then, the Norwegians had gotten tired of Jarl Haakon's rule, who often took daughters of nobles as short-term concubines, and accepted Olaf as king. He converted many countries and important individuals to Christianty and they included Leif Erikson, Sigurd (Earl of the Orkney Islands at the time) and those living in Greenland.
