Through the 60s 70s and early 80s cancer was a death sentence. Canadian teen Terry Fox was diagnosed with cancer and had to have a leg amputated. To raise money for a cure Terry decided to run across Canada on one leg. And he almost made it but the cancer had spread and took his life before he could finish. Terry fox's marathon of hope has never really ended though. Every year thousands of Canadian kids, adults and seniors walk, run, and donate to try and find a cure. The prosthetic leg symbolizes Terrys dedication to finding the cure, a dedication that changed Canada.
