On the 28th of January, 814 AD, Charlemagne died, causing a chain reaction of multiple events. Civil wars ensue between his sons, and the united realm Charlemagne once owned was invaded by Scandinavian Vikings, Muslims, and Hungarians.
This was important because Charlemagne was a very influential figure and also caused the aforementioned events.
