The Klondike gold rush, beginning after Skookum Jim Mason, Dawson Charlie and George Washington Carmack found traces of gold in a section of the Klondike river, set off a chain of events that would lead to one of the largest gold rushes yet.
The gold rush was credited for the lessening of depression rates in America, and was the main cause of major population growth in Yukon.
Although, the effects of the gold rush weren't all pleasant, with it coming along with a horrible impact on the land, depleting wildlife and causing deforestation and corroding soil.
There was also a very negative impact on the First Nations, as these lands were theirs, now in ruin due to the carelessness of the gold prospectors.
There was also the dangers of travelling to and from the prospecting site. prospectors had to go up steep icy trails and passes, and the freezing weather while carrying their supplies. they also had to travel by boat, and the trek was tedious and miserable. and arriving wasn't any better, due to freezing temperatures during winter, people had to huddle together and spend the majority of their time hiding from the harsh weather.
