Thanks to Göring, on this day he allowed members of the SS and SA to join the police force he controlled. This delighted the SA and SS thugs, who were now able to commit stat-sanctioned violence and terror against their political enemies without fear of reprisal from the police: they were, after all, now the police themselves. No purge of the police force was necessary; they embraced the regime with little hesitation.
