The elections for president of 2000 were an important moment in the history of Mexico since these were the first time the political party, PRI, lost the elections to PAN after 70 years of ruling Mexico. In this election de candidate Vicente Fox won by 43% and the candidate of PRI, Labastida Ochoa lost with 36%.
