Natural philosophers also known as pre-socrates started looking for more natural ways of explaining natural phenomena instead of believing in supernatural beliefs established in the mythological era. This started happening mainly in Athens, Greece which was seen as a large communion of cultures. This can be seen as the introduction of skepticism about certain beliefs as well as "man's" role in the world as explaied by Protagoris who said "man is the measure of all things."
