A U.S. fleet was anchored in at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii on December 7, 1941 when Japanese planes from aircraft carriers flew over the Harbor and bombed every ship in sight. This attack lasted less than two hours. 2,400 Americans died, 1200 were wounded, 20 warships were either sunk or harmed and 150 planes were destroyed. Overall, the attack on pearl Harbor was completely out of prediction and completely destroyed most of the American fleet and war resources. This is extremely significant because it really pushes the U.S.’s fight against Japan.
