Yuri Gagarin, a Russian cosmonaut, became the first human in space. Yuri Gagarin was in the Vostok 1 when he was launched into orbit. Yuri Gagarin landed back on Earth at 10:55 am of the same day. His voyage to space and back made him famous and earned him titles such as Hero of the Soviet Union and Pilot Cosmonaut. He died when he and another pilot crashed a plane.
