Wilkerson said "The great belchig city she passed through that day was the first city Ida Mae had ever laid eyes on. That first glimpse of Chicago would stay with her for as long as she lived"(Wilkerson 226). This event that happened to Ida Mae is important because she is use to not seeing that many people and having some building, But Chicgo is different with their big building, lots of people, big build borads, and Chucgo's big train staion. That change Ida Mae's life because they still are treated the same.
