The United Nations Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide was held in direct response to the horrors of the Holocaust and work to educate, identify, and stop genocides in the future. This was less blameful than the Nuremburg trials, and rather worked to create international awareness for the safety of all people. This event unified nations to work towards aid of genocide victims, creating a global community of acceptance, as well as setting the framework for punishment and prevention of future atrocities.
