Large amounts of Mexican workers entered the U.S during WW2 to fill labor shortages along the Pacific Coast. The U.S and Mexican governments agreed to a program in which Braceros or contract laborers, could enter the U.S for a certain amount of time to work specific jobs. Some employers in the southwest sought Mexican workers.
