Established by President Roosevelt with executive order 9024, the War Production Board was a “superagency” with broad economic powers. It did not have nearly as much power as the War Industries Board during WW1. The army and navy often circumvented the board and the board did not meet the interests of small businesses. It’s power was transferred into a new office in the White House, the Office of War Mobilization.
