Sandra Lovelace Nicholas, who is an Indigenous Rights activist fights discrimination in the Indian Act as a violation of human rights under the law. She took it to the United Nations Human Rights Committee, but they were unable to change the law in Canada. This was seen as a win for many Canadian Indigenous women in spite of not being able to change the law.
