UN vote at Lake Success, NY approves Israel to become a nation.
After WW2, Britain turned over the issue of Palestine to the newly formed United Nations (UN). The UN setup a committee and proposed a solution called "The Partion Plan". The plan altered the course of history. British occupation (since 1917) would come to an end and land would be divided into two - a Jewish state and an Arab state.
(In effect) "It was a Jubilean resolution... It was the fulfillment of the First Zionist Congress concluded... August 31, 1897". "...(the plan) that would give the land back to the Jewish people and bring Israel into existence, was competed August 31, 1947... Fifty years to the exact day" -- Chan,J. The Oracle (2019), pg102
When The Partition Plan was approved it did not give a name to the future Jewish state. On the date of the vote, Nov 29, 1947 it was a sabbath day. The scripture (Parsha) appointed for that same day included Genesis 32:28: “...Your name will no longer be Jacob, but Israel, because you have struggled with God and with humans and have overcome.
