The German Reich wanted to take over all of Europe, and maybe the whole world. But Soviet Union, United Kingdom, United States, and France crushed nazism and fascism. The result was the capture of the Nazi capital - Berlin, by the Red Army. Hitler committed suicide, and the Wehrmacht generals and statesman of the Reich were sentenced to death at the Nuremberg Tribunal.
