Palpatine demands that the Jedi enforce his claim to the Chancellorship. Anakin Skywalker appears before the Council, who claim neutrality in political matters. Skywalker, seeing this as a betrayal of Palpatine, resigns from the Jedi order. Palpatine initiates Skywalker into the Sith, giving him the rank of Darth and the sacred name of Vader.
