1 nov 1774 ano - ideal city: Chaux by Claude-Nicolas Ledoux
Descrição:
The saline is expanded into a complete circle. The central buildings include dTown Hall and barracks. This district is surrounded by a wall, so the core of the city is inaccessible. Behind a boulevard enclosing the wall follows the ring-shaped residential development of varying density: To the south are more enclosed courtyard developments with kitchen gardens, to the north palatial layouts with ornamental gardens. To the east and west are two public squares that accommodate the church and the courthouse in the form of longitudinal buildings. Later, the stock exchange and the baths are added. The whole town is surrounded by a ring-shaped rampart, which emphasizes the character of the border town.
City in the forest. It becomes physical environment for a virtuous, ideal society. During this period, Jean Jacques Rousseau, a philosopher who greatly influenced Ledoux's thinking, proclaimed the return to nature. In architecture, this means a return to the beginnings - to antiquity.
