On March 2nd, 1836, Texas signed its declaration and formally declared its independence from Mexico. Four days after declaring independence, Mexico sent troops into the Alamo killing 183 people whom defended the Alamo. Battles ensued afterwards until Texas finally won on April 21st, 1836.
