When she was only 10 years old she was taken from her family and put into a residential home in British Columbia. She was forcefully taken from her family and was put into a scary, long school. Outside of the school it said Alberni Indian Residential School. As soon she got their she saw a lot of indigenous kids her age,younger, and older. She was put into a line with all the other girls and at the very front she saw a man cutting their hair and giving them a new name. When it was her turn they gave her the name Sofia. The next day all the indigenous kid were set to there classes and were told the rules also the punishments that came with the rules if they were not followed .
