Her parents were trying to keep her safe from the others because they knew how bad she would be treated and she was an only child meaning she grew up with a lot of love and care. Since she was an only child she spend most her time with cousins and neighbours. This was not right because she was only a young girl but that is just the way everyone was told to do.
