Max Planck, the originator of quantum physics, was a German theoretical physicist who lived from 1858 to 1947. He formulated his quantum theory, that energy radiated in discrete packets called quanta. He also came up with an equation to find the energy of each quanta, where "Energy of quanta" = "Frequency of radiation" x "Planck's Constant".
