Hong Kong's Chief Executive Carrie Lam said that she was saddened and regretted by the extreme remarks, unnecessary fears and conflicts between Hong Kong and China arising from the amendments of the Fugitive Offenders Ordinance. She said the best way to alleviate concerns is to discuss specific protections, not to stop the bill from passing.
