Hong Kong Secretary for Security John Lee said he would try his best to get different members of the Legislative Council to support the government's proposal, and had already proposed meeting witth the Taiwan authority through the Taiwan-Hong Kong Economic and Cultural Co-operation Council and the Hong Kong-Taiwan Economic and Cultural Co-operation and Promotion Council to handle Chan's case.
