Wu Qian, a spokesman for China's Ministry of National Defense, said the ministry was closely following the recent developments in Hong Kong, particularly the July 21 attack on the Liaison Office of the Central People's government of China in Hong Kong, saying thees actions were challenges to the central government's authority and that the People's Liberation Army could be mobilized if necessary.
