At the working meeting of the Taiwan-Hong Kong Economic and Cultural Cooperation Council and the Hong Kong-Taiwan Economic and Cultural Cooperation and Promotion Council, the Mainland Affairs Council of Taiwan told the Hong Kong government that if Hong Kong failed to prosecute Chan for "murder", the Taiwan prosecution and investigation authorities would proceed with the case in accordance with the procedures, and reiterated that Taiwan would like to negotiate with Hong Kong on mutual legal assistance.
