Verdi Jeune Robinson, born June 8, 1934, dedicated her life to family and public service. Robinson began her career at the D. J. Young Publishing Co. Later, she became a Kansas City, Kansas meter maid. Robinson relentlessly worked through the ranks of the city to becoming the Director of Parking Control. She was the first African American female to serve as a Wyandotte County Commissioner and the first African American woman to be elected to the Kansas State Legislature.
