External Influence: Uruguay asked Venezuela to pay the debt it has with its country. Both nations signed an agreement in 2015 where Uruguay promised to deliver about 235,000 tons of food in exchange for USD 300 million. Through a statement, the Uruguayan Foreign Ministry assured that the Government of Nicolás Maduro did not settle the debt in its entirety.
