11 maio 1073 ano - Gregory VII
Descrição:
Gregory VII was a pope in the Roman Catholic Church who wanted to purify the church and free it from interference by feudal lords. He also tried to free the church from state control and argued with Holy Roman Emperor Henry IV and eventually excommunicated the Emperor from the church. Henry IV eventually asked for forgiveness and the Pope won his point. Pope Gregory VII was important because he showed the church's dominance over the state, unlike the byzantine empire.
