Treaty No. 4, also known as the Qu’Appelle Treaty, was signed at Fort Qu’Appelle, Saskatchewan. Most of southern Saskatchewan along with bits from western Manitoba and southern Alberta were given in exchange for payments, rights for reserve land, and provisions. Everyone would receive $5 and a gift of clothing annually. Chiefs would receive $25 annually and a new coat every three years, along with an extra $25, a coat, and a silver medal. Each family received 640 acres of land, along with farming tools, and ammunition. The land could be sold back to the government for money.
