sixdegrees.com was a social media networking site named after the concept of six degrees of separation. Users could list friends and family members both on and off the site to help them find connections. Connections were listed in tiers with the first tier being people who knew one another IRL. You could see how many degrees of separation existed between you and any other user. Six Degrees is widely considered to be the first social networking site.
