Secret was an iOS and android app that allowed users to post messages anonymously. It differed from its competetors of the time because it was intended for use between friends. Created by Chrys Bader-Wechseler and David Byttow, Secret shut down in 2015 with the stated reason that the app was no longer following the original vision. Prior to the shutdown, Bader-Wechseler had already left the company with the stated reason "It’s become clear that the next chapter of Secret is beginning in a way that will be less about the kind of creation and design that I love, and so it’s time for me to step down, let the team do what they do best, and focus on what I do best" (techcrunch.com).
