Before 1925:

- 1923, Corfu Affair, where an Italian was killed in Greek island Corfu
- Mussolini invaded in retaliation
- After threat from Britain to use navy made Mussolini withdraw and demand 50 million Lire instead

- 1924, Mussolini gains control of disputed port of Fiume
- Also funded independence groups in Yugoslavia to destabilise it and undermine French influence there

- 1924, Italian backed leader Ahmed Zog, took power in Albania
- This eventually lead to it becoming an italian protectorate

- Etc.
- There were many incidences where Mussolini tried to undermine French colonialism in Africa, destabilise Italy's neighbours, and gain influence (favour, treaties, protectorates) through supporting pro-Italian groups, in many different states

After 1925:

- Increase national pride

- Consolidate domestic support for the regime

- Revise the 1919-1920 post war settlements

- Dominate the Balkans

- Dominate the Mediterranean

- Build an empire to gain "living space", especially in Africa

- Spread fascism in other countries
