Descrição:
The North American Air Defense Agreement, abbreviated as NORAD, is an agreement/partnership between Canada's air force and the United States' air force. The name was later changed to the North American Aerospace Defense Command in 1981, but the abbreviation of NORAD was kept. Back in 1957, the Cold War was raging, and Canada along with the US were worried about long-range attacks from the Soviets. Therefore, they decided to form the NORAD to help protect each other and decrease the risk of a potential threat.
