In 1953 China began its Five-Year Plan and re-modeled it after the Soviets Five-Year Plan.

During the Five-Year Plan thousands of Chinese citizens died due to famine or were executed by the government for treason.

Although the Chinese government had some setbacks the first Five-Year Plan was a success
