“The Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo officially ended the war. It gave the U.S. almost half of Mexico. This became the Southwest, plus parts of Utah, Nevada, and Wyoming. In the treat, the U.S. promised that the people would have ‘the enjoyment of all the rights of citizens of the United states, according to the principles of the Constitution.’ They shall, it said, ‘be maintained and protected in the free enjoyment of their liberty and property.’ But by his later actions, Uncle Sam might as well have torn up that treaty.” (pg36)

El Tratado de Guadalupe Hidalgo oficialmente puso fin a la guerra. México cedió a los EU casi la mitad de su territorio que después se conoció como el Sudoeste, además de otros estados.
