26 out 1956 ano - Nagy and Reforms

Descrição:

The well respected Nagy was allowed to form a new government. He started making reforms, trying to get rid of soviet control.
-He asked to leave the WARSAW PACT (a pact that ensured other Soviet states would provide military help if another was invaded). This deeply troubled Khrushchev as it would cause a gap in the buffer zone, making invasion of the USSR easier.
- Free elections
-Private Property -> many saw this as capitalism in the USSR
-Impartial courts

The Hungarians thought they had a chance at success as:
-it seemed that Khrushchev might favour them as he had already reduced control of Soviet states
-Russia had already given in to some Polish worker's demands in June 1956
-They thought they would have support from the UN
