Flavius Valerius Aurelius Constantinus Augustus was the first emperor of Rome to convert to Christianity. He was the first to legalize Christianity and practice it, earning himself the degree of Saint Constantine the Great, as well as the title of Equal-to-apostles. He requested to be baptized after he fell seriously ill after the Easter feast of 337, and was done so by Eusebius of Nicomedia. He died on the last day of Pentecost (a 5-day celebration directly after Easter) on 22 May 337.
