Maximilian Robespierre was the architect behind the French Revolution's Reign of Terror, and encouraged the killing of 17,000 enemies of the revolution. Robespierre was arrested and guillotined in front of a cheering mob. This guillotine was special, as it marked the last executions via guillotine.
